Our 1ST ANNUAL
ED'S WALK
was a huge success!!
Thank you to all who donated for and participated in this urgent cause, and who made the day so excellent! We raised well over $10,000 dollars for PF research, met and mingled with others who have had their lives touched by this disease, and got some exercise too! Mom and sis: did a great job of organizing!
There is a wonderful blog about the event here published by Rick Moore of the Moore family who had just lost their beloved husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Richard Moore, only 11 days prior. After meeting the Moores, I was again struck with the reality that this disease seems to target the world's nicest and sweetest people.
In case you missed it, 110 people met on Sunday, Oct 4, 2009, for a 5k walk around Lake Mission Viejo to benefit the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis in memory of Edward V. Kohout Jr. It was the third anniversary of his passing in '06.
For a registration fee of only $25.00 participants got a bagel, coffee and orange juice breakfast donated by Bagles & Brew, Alberstons/Starbucks (both of Olympiad Plaza) and Perricone Juices, a T-shirt with our logo designed by Brannen Design, water donated by Trader Joe's, and the chance to win a few prizes donted by a few of our favorite businesses: The Bungalow Restaurant of Corona Del Mar and Terranea Resort.
I will be putting a slide show of the folks who attended here shortly.
We hope to see you next year on October 3rd! It's never too early to sign up, or donate here:
